Labrador training tips and advise needed please!?

I have a gorgeous 2 year old black Labrador called Molly. She is absolutely perfect indoors, fully house trained, doesn’t chew, perfect with our three small children and will come, sit, paw etc on demand. She loves cuddles and gets treats as rewards for her excellent behaviour….anyhow, the second she crosses the threshold of our front door she changes into a little monster. She used to be fine but now she will pull on her leash (when she does this I just freeze so she doesn’t get to move anywhere so hopefully she will learn quickly that this is unacceptable behaviour), she barks at other dogs which frightens them and their owners, yet she never used to do this before – and she’s used to other dogs so I don’t know why she’s suddenly barking at them). If she’s off her leash (which she doesn’t get to do anymore) she will run and not come back despite being called. I can’t pinpoint a reason as to why out of the blue her behaviour suddenly changed! I’d appreciate any input and advise. I’d quite like to go to puppy training classes again with her but my husband is working away from home until Christmas and with three small children at home, this isn’t possible to do (there isn’t anyone who can babysit for me)…. So I’m really just looking for tips on how I, and I alone can begin to resolve this. Thanks!
Wow thank you for your answers! When she approaches the other dogs whilst out walking, she is trying to play so I’ll perhaps look into introducing her to other dogs she does not know yet. She has some doggy friends whom she sees regularly and she is absolutely fine with them. I don’t think she has an aggressive bone in her body, she’s so docile and laid back! I think it could be frustration with being in the leash maybe, but my goodness it’s embarrassing! She never used to do it! I’ll def try the washing line recall technique! such a good idea, would be so lovely to have her perfect in and out of the home!

would a labrador be a good dog for me? :\?

its unbelievable how many breeds i have been through and changed my mind about but for now my mind is settled on a labrador. heres a bit of info about my lifestyle and if it would be good for a labrador.
i like in a fairly large bungalow with a big yard with grass and also pavement. i have 2 rabbits but that part of the garden could be forbidden for the dog as to not scare the rabbits or the dog could learn to get used to them and not bother them. anyways, i live with my mam, dad and my disabled sister who’s in a wheelchair. people have said how labradors are good therapy dogs and patient with children and good for people with disabilities etc. and my sister would definetley love a dog as she always gets excited whenever i mention them. she cant speak but she can make noises to show which mood she’s in so would the dog be able to get used to these noises? also i still go to school as i am 14years old so i wouldnt be home all of the time but i would definetley take the dog for 2-3 long walks a day and play with it in our big garden and also the dog would come along on family days out to the park, beach, etc.
this will be my first dog btw and i have been watching Victoria Stilwell’s training videos for help because i love the way that she trains dogs.
so what do you think about a labrador for me? or would you suggest another breed? thanks.

Labradors are brilliant dogs and it sounds like a lab would fit in well with your family. Dogs dont understand words as such, they hear the tone so the dog will probably understand your sister very easily, my mum got a lab before my daughter was born and if my daughter was making sad noises when she was very little the lab used to come and get me and when she made scared noises when she was having nightmares the dog used to lay next to her to make her feel safe.

I need a few tips on training my dog?

I need help training him to:
-Not attack/fight/try to ‘do’ my other dog. (Both labs). Before when my dog was just a little dog he’d get all tangled in her paws and they’d swipe gently at each other and I used to tell them ‘no.’ and they listened. Now it’s a few months later and the fighting is getting serious, like to the point where one is bleeding. I try putting him in his cage, separating them, but nothing works. Help?
-Not pull on the leash. It’s gotten so hard to keep control over him we’ve gone through 3 harness and a head harness.
-When I take him for walks, he barks incessantly at people. I’ve heard you stand in front of him but he still barks. Help?

Please help me!! The dog I need help with is a 13 month old yellow labrador.

You can train your dog yourself to stop these habits. It takes time, (A few weeks) but you can do it yourself. You don’t need books or classes for your dogs. Labs are high energy dogs, but they are also smart.

I’ll address each issue separately.

1. (The fighting) Keep your dogs separate, to start. Leash your problem dog, and the other dog. Take your dogs favorite treat, like chicken or hot dogs. Sit in a room, and have another person holding your other dog out of the room. Make your dog pay attention to you, and feed him a few treats. Now that you have his attention, bring the other dog slowly into the room. Make the male dog pay attention to you, while slowly feeding him treats. He will soon recognize that having the female dog around means that good things happen to him. Bring the dogs closer together until they are within reach of eachother, but keep praising them for the good behavior. If the male dog growls, barks, or goes for the female dog, quickly tell him "NO!" and remove him from the room. Do this repeatedly, every day, and they’ll end up getting along.

2. (no pulling) Keep your dog on a head leash or a harness. Never use a choker on a dog that pulls a lot. Take your dog for a walk. When he starts to pull, immediately go in the opposite direction in which he is pulling toward. This lets him know that pulling won’t get him there any faster. When he stops pulling, turn around and keep going the way he wants to. You will have to repeat this A LOT before he gets the point. Just keep at it.

3. (Barking) While walking, put him in the "sit" position. Have treats ready. Keep his attention on you at all times. He may look at someone passing by. If he begins to bark, remove him from the situation until he calms down. When someone starts walking close, feed him treats and praise him for not barking. If he begins to bark, say "no" and take him away. Repeat.

These all will take time, but just keep at it!
