House Training: Good as long as he has a consistent schedule
Crate Training: Needs work – Floyd doesn’t mind going in, but he whines if he can’t see you and he doesn’t crate well overnight. He does use the crate as a place to escape to if he’s scared. He does stay in the crate during the day while his foster is at work.
Other Dogs: Great! Playful although a little reserved. No signs of aggression. Will bark when sees other dogs on walks, but doesn’t act aggressive.
Cats: Excellent. He was curious at first with his foster’s cat, but one swipe from the cat and he learned his lesson. He ignores them completely now.
Children: Dog-respectful children, 8 and older

Health: Floyd is healthy! He is neutered, microchipped, flea treated, dewormed, and is current on vaccines. Your adoption donation goes toward the cost of this vet care as well as transportation and general care costs. In addition, all pets adopted from Motley Zoo come with 30 days of free pet insurance provided by Shelter Care.
History: Floyd found himself in an Eastern WA shelter. Motley Zoo Animal Rescue was asked to find him a great forever family and that is exactly what we plan to do!
Notes from Floyd’s Foster Home: Floyd is a super sweet guy but he is shy. He may have been a farm dog in Eastern WA as he is timid with people at the moment, although he seems fine with other dogs. He will need some more socialization in order to get over his hesitancy. Floyd loves to jump in bed and snuggle once he gets over his hesitancy. He knows his name and responds well to it. Once he warms up, he can be very affectionate. He would be an excellent jogging partner, he did great on a 6 mile run with his foster. He gains confidence when he is around his foster’s dog, so a confident dog in his new household would be great for him. His very favorite thing is to run free in the yard – that’s when he is completely in his element.
Floyd needs some work on his commands; he’s not very food motivated and currently the commands for “sit” and “stay” scare him. His foster is working on different tactics with him. Due to his lack of socialization, his new family will need to be patient with him as it took a couple of days for him to warm up to his foster family. He does become attached though, and wants to keep his people in sight. He is currently working on his leash skills as he tends to pull. He is scared of new surroundings and situations, but his foster is working hard on introducing him to new places and the more he gets that exposure, the better he is doing. Floyd does well in the car after initially settling down. As long as he is on a consistent schedule, his housetraining skills are awesome!
Floyd is a super sweet guy but he’s obviously had a rough go with the first year of his life. His new family should be prepared that he’ll likely take a little while to warm up, but with proper training he will be a great pet! He’s slowly gaining more confidence and he loves to be told he’s a “good boy”. He just wants to love and be loved! He would love a big back yard to run and play in, he is so full of life when he can run around and fetch frisbees or tennis balls (although he does need to work on returning the ball when playing that game). He would do fine living with cats and would do great with another dog in the household that he can take his cues from and learn how to handle this big world with confidence!
All dogs adopted from Motley Zoo come with a leash and either a Martingale collar or a harness, depending on each dog’s particular needs.

Macon is a 9 month old black lab mix who was brought to the shelter because he was too much for his last family to handle. Macon is a big boy who is still growing and still trying to learn his manners. He is a very smart pup, but does not realize his own size and strength when he gets excited, and can get himself into trouble with his puppy like enthusiasm! Macon was crate trained in his last home and is reported to be mostly house trained as well. He proved to be a little too rowdy with young children and small dogs in his last home. Because of his rambuntiousness, he will need a home without children under the age of 12. Macon is a very sweet and loving dog who just needs proper training and exercise to help him be the wonderful companion he wants so badly to be.
