Labrador Dog Training Archives

0 Retriever young dog training: Doubles and lining with distractionhttp://www.franchise.sitmeanssit.com You can practice lining drills just about anywhere that you go. In this video, I am using the distraction of a dog training class to teach my dog to line directly to the proper bumper that I throw. I am also using the hula hoops as a distraction. In prior videos, you have seen the dog only run through the Hulu hoop but you can tell that he only sees things in terms of straight lines. I have had a few questions from people on the prior hoop videos that the dog is going to run through the hula hoop no matter what, but you can see that is obviously not the case. The dog needs to go where you send him. All of the distraction of the moving dogs also helps in the training of teaching the dog to focus on the proper one you are sending him to and to pay attention. I am also mixing in returns to both sides.

There is limited space in this video obviously, but it is best to be imaginative in any setting that is presented to you. My Labrador Retriever ‘Kohl’ is 1 1/2 years old.

its unbelievable how many breeds i have been through and changed my mind about but for now my mind is settled on a labrador. heres a bit of info about my lifestyle and if it would be good for a labrador.
i like in a fairly large bungalow with a big yard with grass and also pavement. i have 2 rabbits but that part of the garden could be forbidden for the dog as to not scare the rabbits or the dog could learn to get used to them and not bother them. anyways, i live with my mam, dad and my disabled sister who’s in a wheelchair. people have said how labradors are good therapy dogs and patient with children and good for people with disabilities etc. and my sister would definetley love a dog as she always gets excited whenever i mention them. she cant speak but she can make noises to show which mood she’s in so would the dog be able to get used to these noises? also i still go to school as i am 14years old so i wouldnt be home all of the time but i would definetley take the dog for 2-3 long walks a day and play with it in our big garden and also the dog would come along on family days out to the park, beach, etc.
this will be my first dog btw and i have been watching Victoria Stilwell’s training videos for help because i love the way that she trains dogs.
so what do you think about a labrador for me? or would you suggest another breed? thanks.

As long as you’re sure it will get enough time from you and the rest of the family then yes, this breed is perfect. You’re right, they are used as therapy dogs because of their temperament. They are, for the most part, caring, calm and excellent family pets. You could consider the golden retriever too

Labradors are brilliant dogs and it sounds like a lab would fit in well with your family. Dogs dont understand words as such, they hear the tone so the dog will probably understand your sister very easily, my mum got a lab before my daughter was born and if my daughter was making sad noises when she was very little the lab used to come and get me and when she made scared noises when she was having nightmares the dog used to lay next to her to make her feel safe.

my friend has 1 year labrador dog and he gave it to me and went abroad. Im trying to give training to labrador with commands like ‘Sit’, Stand, Off, Eat, Bark etc by showing a chew stick to it.. it responds only for Sit.. and for every other command its simply trying to jump on me to get that chew stick.. I call my dog ROCKY.. Rocky likes me very much, always stays with me and responds only to me in my family.. Sad part is im unable to give training to Rocky.. its not responding to my commands other than Sit and come.. Help me guys.. is it possible to give training to 1 year labrador and what is the best method to follow..
