Am I doing the right thing for my lab puppy?
I just got a Labrador puppy only eight weeks old and hasn’t been crate trained. She is whimpering and howling and I feel awful I know she has to sleep in her crate but I am doing the right thing by ignoring her?
NO!! Don’t give into her yelping and whimpering as this is what she wants you to do and she will learn that by doing this she can get whatever she wants as long as she does it loud enough.
Your dog will eventually stop and say "hmmmmmmm this isn’t working" and get fed up and give up but only if you don’t give in. Sometimes you have to be hard on your dogs to be nice

Yes, if you give in then she will be in command. Give her a stuffed animal and pillow that had your sent on it and get some ear plus for your self. She might do it for a couple of weeks. I could not take my beagle, plus have neighbors where you can here evey thing so I put the cage in my room. He was fine as long as he could see me, but had to stay in cage

If you are going to crate train her then yes she will be okay. As long as the crate is big enough (can she turn around and completely lay down), is there a comfortable bottom for her to lay down on and not hard metal, and have you made sure you took her to the bathroom before placing her in the crate and she has not had anything to eat or drink prior?

I crate trained my lab so he was safe while I was at work, but was free while I was sleeping.
